"The image is not a complete fact, but something that is constantly evolving so that it helps us to make ever new discoveries.... It must say something at all times and reflect the intensity of its creation so that it continues to speak to us later. The more invested by the artist, the more we as recipients benefit from it."
(Emil Schumacher "Life in Painting" / Conversations and Texts, Hatje and Cantz)
Bettina Hachmann was born in Geldern in 1967. Raised in Flensburg, she now lives and works again in the Lower Rhine. Since 2004 her studio is located in Schloß Wissen, Weeze.
Since 1999 she has exhibitions at home and abroad, including in the Netherlands, Morocco, France, Austria, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland, as well as at art fairs (Art Karlsruhe).
In layers Bettina Hachmann carries paint on and off again. In places she opens the canvas. The openings serve to expand, not to destroy. Sometimes she uses them in her reduced paintings as a design element, sometimes they become fragments of a landscape or seem like scratched traces. Traces of life.
