Jan Aine 🇩🇪
abstract relief painting from Berlin
Since 2000 Jan Aine has briefly worked as a media designer and since then as art and creative director of an in-house design department. In 2008 he also started to work fully analog again in his Kreuzberg studio (Berlin).
In search of what a work needs to express itself, I defined a limited frame for myself in the square and developed a very narrow color space. This clear reduction is contrasted with a blasting of the surface. It is not a closed surface, but a torn open, worked surface that has something to experience and tell. With this way of working, an examination of temporal processes emerges. My creative process takes place in several work cycles, so it takes time and expresses time at the same time.
He himself describes his work as follows: "In my abstract relief painting I have found a way to follow my intuition, which immediately breaks through when I enter my studio. Thus driven by the urge of my inner images, I give expression to my ongoing curiosity. I am constantly seeking the discussion between my works and your viewer. Thus, the multi-layered discussion leads to the fact that my works can also be seen as a mirror of my environment."
