Jaya Suberg
Photography meets painting
Jaya Suberg was born in Hagen in 1956. In 1980 she moved to the “wall city” Berlin. Today she lives and works again in Hagen and during the winter on La Gomera. She is a digital and mixed media artist, a self-taught artist with exhibitions, video interviews and press articles at home and abroad. She uses her own photographs from photo sessions and textures from urban space. She then digitally tattoos the beautiful wild ones with her language: the shades of longing, the pain of transience... the joy of life in the moment, the questioning of meaning, loneliness... almost always: lowered gaze, closed eyes... introspection. After years of experimentation, she has found the means of expression that suits her: she combines some of the printed digital works on various media with paintings, drawings and collages to create mixed media works.
She is a digital artist and moves with pure emotion. The body is her theme, sensitively composed with decimated color in an inner-soul mood space.
