Niki Hare (UK) is a versatile visual artist whose work revolves around ideas of existence and vision. "I paint to drive away the nausea," she says. The works dissect and explore the world she suddenly finds herself in, with an emphasis on detail and observation.

"The world is stopped, broken down into layers, mixed, pushed back together and sent on its way. Nothing is static, there is a sense of the provisional, of imbalance, of unease." From the artist's perspective, everything is viewed from all angles, broken down into frames, maps, diagrams, aerial photographs. The focus is on both what is there and the spaces in between, on what could be there. Combining somber observation with a sense of painting from the inside out, these works come across as portraits and an examination of the self.
