Ron Weijers

Ron Weijers, born in 1960, is a Dutch multidisciplinary artist who works primarily with painting, photography and music. Weijers' paintings stimulate dialogue and discussion about today's social and geopolitical issues. His project "Radical Pacifism" reviews the global climate of increasing violence. By reusing, reconstructing and reactivating his materials, Weijers compares his work to building a relationship - with attempted intimacy, failed expectations, failures and ultimately surrender.

Weijers paints predominantly on wood panels to support the weighty materials he uses to create his multi-layered mixed media works, such as oil pastels, acrylic, graphite, wire, corrugated cardboard and finish. Using a sophisticated drawing technique, he frees lines from their traditional function and renders the figures and elements in their natural state.

Ron Weijers' paintings have been exhibited widely in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the USA, and his works can now be found in private collections around the world. As a musician, Weijers releases projects under the name "Global Frequency", composing, arranging and producing himself.
