Ron Weijers, born in 1960, is a Dutch multidisciplinary artist working primarily with painting, photography and music. Weijers' paintings stimulate dialogue and discussion about today's social and geopolitical issues. His project "Radical Pacifism" reviews the global climate of increasing violence. Reusing, reconstructing, and reactivating his materials, Weijers compares his work to building a relationship—attempted intimacy, failed expectations, neglect, and eventual surrender.
Weijers paints primarily on wood panels to support the weighty materials he uses to create his multi-layered mixed media works, such as oil pastel, acrylic, graphite, wire, corrugated board, and finish. Using a sophisticated drawing technique, he liberates lines from their traditional function and reproduces the figures and elements in their natural state.
Ron Weijers' paintings have been widely exhibited in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the USA, and his works are now in private collections around the world. As a musician, Weijers releases projects under the Global Frequency moniker, composing, arranging and producing himself.
